Essential Dating Handbag

Dating Date Attack Safety Safe Handbag

Every girl loves a good handbag but as your mum always told you – it’s what’s inside that counts! The contents of your handbag should stretch beyond a sparkly lip gloss and when you are setting out on a date being prepared and having a few safety provisions can be the difference between life and death.

Attack Alarm

Attack alarms vary in size and design but there are plenty of them available that will easily fit into even the tiniest handbag. They make an extremely loud high pitched noise when activated and will instantly draw attention to any situation. Make sure you have it in an outside pocket or very easily accessible part of your bag. They are not much use if you can’t find it and in an emergency you would want it instantly.

Ask your local police station if they provide them and they are usually available free of charge on university campuses. If not, they can be bought from the internet or supply shops for less than £10 and are a sound investment.

Phone

The invention of mobile phones was a great boost for your safety when on a date. Have taxi numbers programmed in and an emergency number you can call if you need help. When you are home, text a designated friend to tell them you are home.

Taxi Numbers

It is important that you know how you will get home and even if you have booked a taxi, it is a good idea to have some other numbers on hand in case you need them.

Money

This one may seem obvious but many people only carry their cards with them, not cash or underestimate how much money they will need for the evening, leaving you short at the end of the night. It is a good idea to know how much a taxi home will be and set this money aside separately so you always have the ability to get back home.

Condoms

Practising safe sex is not only sensible and responsible, it is essential. Even if you are on the pill it is impossible to tell if your date has an STD, however respectable or clean they might seem. There is nothing promiscuous about carrying condoms and it should not only be down to the man to provide them. By having them on hand you are much less likely to get carried away and not use them. Buy a pack of three or you can get them free from any family planning clinic. If your date refuses to use them then be firm in your decision and refuse to sleep with them. It’s just not worth the risk.

Throw in a good lip gloss and you are ready to go. Just be sure to organise your bag so you can find all these things easily and be aware of searching though your bag on the street as being distracted is a sure fire way of being a target of crime. Being safety conscious is just as important as being style conscious and nothing will ruin your look quicker than being unprepared in a tricky situation.
